Our Priorities

Showing you 1 to 19 of 19 ideas of our priorities
Go Digital Decision Making
I want a Wales where EVERYONE has the opportunity to be an "active citizen" and takes part in decision making at every level and on a very regular basis. Digital systems should be provided to make this a reality. Education courses should be made available to ensure everyone has the opportunity to learn how to engage in digital democracy.

Hold discussions on what democracy actually is
So we can gain a good understanding about the different types of democracy and how we can help change it.

Use Direct Democracy digital platforms to help identify our collective priorities
Use platforms (such as VocalEyes) to engage local residents, staff, students, tenants etc to identify collective priorities, provide a process of transparency, facilitate crowd-sourcing of tangible projects and replicate the best outcomes to other similar groups.

Increase student participation with the VocalEyes tool and process.
It is a good idea to create specific groups for students at universities and colleges in Swansea in order to increase the participation throughout. This would help the students increase adoption and relate to the digital democracy.

Create a Standard, Benchmark and Accreditation for Active Global Citizenship
This could then be used by organisations, communities and governments to acknowledge the level of effort being applied to engagement and participation of stakeholders and how much the org/community has taken on-board a culture of authentic participation.

Hustings
Hold more hustings with all parties, not just the main ones. Minority parties should be given the opportunity to have their voices amplified.
And hold them more often (and online) - for all elections.

Reduce the restrictions on who can vote
Remove the restrictions on voting - i.e. having to pay council tax, log your address, log your debt and make you easier to track by the government.

Leave the Eropean Union embracing & expanding democracy!
As we leave the European union we will regain full control of our country again, we must further fight for democracy by having directly elected mayors across the country and abolishing the first-past-the-post system in favour of direct proportional representation, and a web tool for MP's and citizens that shows opinion polls on their constituency's issues and concerns to advise MP's vote in the House Of Commons.
